– Laparoscopy vs open surgery
– – Colectomy open
CLASSICAL COLECTOMY
by laparotomy or open way
The colectomy by open way is sometimes called “hemicolectomy” or “segmentary colectomy by laparotomy”
It is the surgical operation most employed for the treatment of cancers of the colon. This intervention consists in removing the portion reached of the colon just as the lymphatic ganglia neighbouring years the framework of an open surgery.
The intervention is done by an opening (incision) practised in the abdomen, and one carries out the ablation of the part reached of the colon as well as small portion of the healthy colon on both sides of that Ci.
Usually, approximately the quarter or one the third of the colon is removed, but all depends on the size and the site of the tumour.
The ends of the healthy parts are then braided (bent together)
It is important to withdraw more a large number of lymphatic ganglia to determine the stage of cancer and the operational post treatment which is appropriate.

– – Laparoscopic colectomy
MINIMALLY INVASIVE COLECTOMY
COELIOSCOPY or LAPAROSCOPY
Videoendoscopic Colectomy by access coelioscopy or laparoscopy
This technique minimalement invasive is indicated for cancers of early stage.
It consists in removing the part reached of the colon as well as the surrounding lymphatic ganglia, by making in the abdomen several small incisions by which one passes the instruments and surgical tools necessary, rather than to open this last by a long incision.
One of these instruments is provided with the one with its ends with a video camera which makes it possible to see the interior of the abdominal cavity.
Once crossed the sick part of the colon, one widens one of the incisions in order to withdraw it body.
As the practised incisions are smaller than for an opened colectomy, the patient is restored more quickly and has less of pains than after a surgical operation of the colon carried out in the classical way by open way.
The colectomy by laparoscopy can be as curative as the latter, but must be realized by a specialist in this technique.
